Inspired by a stay in Mexico and impressed by the Aztec culture, its traditions and rites, the composer has written this work. Each of the five parts of the composition represents a ceremony in honor of a particular deity. Commissioned by Hank Skolnik, and premiered in 1995 at the Conference of the International Double Reed Society Congress in Rotterdam.
