Nigro Contrabassoon Recital Series, Ponderings from the Pond was conceived one summer's night in a North Dakota campground, while listening to the "dialogue" of the frogs in the nearby pond. It begins with a section entitled "Frog Talk", a dialogue between contrabassoon and piano. The conversation continues with humor, moves into song and ponderings, and ends playfully with the frog having the last word.
